About

A studio of one, held to a single standard.

The practice

Our work is built on a simple principle: create objects, products and experiences that are both beautiful and purposeful. Whether working in the digital world or with traditional materials, every project begins with the same commitment to thoughtful design, meticulous craftsmanship and uncompromising attention to detail.

Nothing here is outsourced and nothing is assembled from a template. Each commission is taken on in full, from the first decision to the last, and kept small enough to be answered for personally. The brand stays neutral on purpose; it should never compete with the work it makes.

Capability Practice areas, not a CV
Trained in
Furniture making and joinery formed the foundation of the practice and remain the discipline against which everything else is measured. Working at the bench taught that construction and aesthetics are inseparable. How something is made is every bit as important as how it appears.
Works across
Brand identity, visual systems and typography, interior and spatial design, reverse engineered electronics, small batch clothing and garment labelling, bespoke furniture, metalwork, and certified dry stone walling. Different materials and disciplines, guided by a single design philosophy.
Has built
Brand identities carried from first concept through to the smallest details. Bespoke furniture and complete interiors. Reverse engineered lighting and electronic components where precision is essential. Garments designed with the same structural thinking as furniture. Dry stone walls built to endure for generations.
Works with
A small number of clients at any one time. Every commission is selected for the opportunity to create something exceptional rather than the volume of work it represents. Remaining deliberately small allows every design decision, every detail and every finished piece to be shaped by the same hands from beginning to end.
The way of working
i

The decision before the decision.

Most of the work is done before anything is made, in deciding what the thing should be, and what it should refuse to be. The making is downstream of that.

ii

Material honesty.

Wood, cloth, type, silicon. Each is allowed to behave as what it is. Decoration is earned, never applied to cover a decision that wasn't made.

iii

Made to outlast its moment.

Nothing here is built for the year it was made in. Restraint is the long position: fewer things, considered thoroughly, kept past the trend that would date them.
